Gilmore Girls Reading Challenge: Season 1

Gilmore Girls has been on Netflix for a couple months now, and I’m hooked. Thanks to creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, I feel like an unofficial member of Stars Hollow and less of a binge-watching couch potato. Sherman-Palladino did not create a show; she created a community with a strong ensemble and a charming small town.

As a pop-culture fiend, I personally enjoy the slew of movie, TV, and book references made in every episode. In fact, Rory herself becomes a walking pop culture reference in each episode with a new book by her side. In honor of this, I have compiled a Rory Gilmore reading challenge!

BuzzFeed and List Challenges have done similar challenges, but they both referenced all 339 books in the seven seasons. I love reading, but a 339-book challenge is a little overwhelming. For this challenge, I’ll be going season by season.

Rules: Some movies referenced in Gilmore Girls are based on books, but those have not been added to the list. Also, I know Rory wanted the Oxford English Dictionary in 1×15, but unless you want to read that cover to cover, I chose not to include that in the challenge.
